Download my 2005 MSDN WebCast slide decks below - I gave the first two sessions on Monday, January 31, 2005 the second two on Friday, February 4, 2005, and the final two on Monday, May 16, 2005. Don't forget to follow the links at left to replay the WebCast sessions (it appears you have to go through the registration process to view them). These sessions include:

  • DNN v3.0 Overview - introduces the great new features in DNN v3, and provides a general overview of DNN features.
  • DNN v3.0 Installation and Configuration - covers the steps needed to install DNN, and provides a walkthrough of the initial configuration process for your DNN portals from the Host and Admin account perspectives.
  • DNN v3.0 Portal Management - talks about what you need to know as a portal admin after installation - how the portal works and how to maintain it.
  • DNN v3.0 Custom Module Development - this is a “survey“ of the topics you need to be familiar with to do custom module development in DNN. It touches the high points only - keep in mind this was only a 1-hour session.
  • DNN v3.0 Building Custom Modules - this session covers Visual Studio setup for module development, walks you through creation of custom modules using VS and CodeSmith templates, and how to bring the existing source for a custom module into Visual Studio.
  • DNN v3.0 Advanced Module Development - this session covers important parts of the vast DotNetNuke namespace, commonly used routines, saving module settings, localization, multi-module development, and more. The slides are backed up by plenty of examples in the code.
    • Download the DemoControl source code - I used this very simple sample to illustrate multi-page module techniques in sessions 5 and 6. The ModuleDefinition setup for DemoControl is in the Notes section of slide 8 (Configure an Existing Custom Module) in session 5 (Building Custom Modules).
